DESHOK GETS HER WINGS

CHROME PLATTED AND BURR WALNUT - CREATED USING ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR AND PHOTOSHOP

When I was a toddler our next door neighbours and my god father Uncle Stan Collard used to take us kids to Sunday school and other outings in his loving restored Lagonda Mk.1 Saloon.

THE INSPIRATION PART1, LAGONDA MK.1 SALOON

The first that I remember had metallic silver coach work with a cream leather, chrome and burr walnut interior. As a boy of about four or five I felt like a king being driven about In the big beautiful silver Lagonda.

CLASIC SEAT-OF-THE-PANTS ASTON MARTIN RACERS - ASTON SERVICE DORSET
Ivan Forsure or "Mr Forsure" to me :) another great old gent from my childhood was Uncle Stans’ partner in crime with regard to the restoration of the Mk.1 as he owned and ran Aston Service Dorset the officially approved service centre for the restoration of classic and vintage Aston Martins and Lagondas. During one of our visits I picked up an Aston Martin badge, I though it was wonderful, an eagle and a fighter jet all at once, I asked if I could have it but Mr Forshaw smiled and "NO" it was worth more the a years pocket money... Two years even!

Anyway some 40 odd years later while reminiscing about the good old days I remembered the old Lagonda and Aston Martin marques and I started to wonder how it would look if I gave the Deshok brand a Lagonda/Aston Martin theme?

"As a designer I think I'm allowed these little eccentricities every-once-in-a-while."

Basically I've kept the original brand but have given it wings. It’s a purely self indulgent mission but I am really pleased with the outcome. Just a bit of fun, a mash up of the Aston, Lagonda and Bentley wings with a bit of Deshok styling reminds me of a very happy childhood and my dear old Uncle Stan, his friend Mr Forshaw and the great old war-horse that was the Lagonda Mk.1 Saloon.

So now it’s not only fizzy energy drinks that can have wings, digital design agencies can have them too.

  1. 100% you. Your work is so beautifully polished and finished Neil. This is a symbol of solid quality and refinement that suits your brand and your standards like a glove. I love it because it speaks on so many levels. The story behind the wings is pure golden nostalgia and honestly conveyed, you communicate expertly and with integrity. You have wings for sure.
